In 1981, I walked into Len Amoroso Jr.'s office in West Philadelphia with a simple request. "Can you get these rolls on a truck and haul them to California?" He answered in the affirmative and without as much as hand-shake because I was in such a hurry to catch my plane after meeting with suppliers, sports teams, Tastykake and visiting my parents in-between.
As Len told me recently, after I left he said to himself, "This guy just came here and talked to me for 5 minutes. He asked me to set up distribution in California and then he ran out. He must be crazy!"
The Amoroso’s roll is the key, but it's been a lot more than the roll. It's been service, trust, honesty, communication and a great relationship that goes beyond business. It's about doing things right and that’s what Amoroso's is all about. I don't know where we'd be without them. We're now receiving 70,000 rolls every week! All these years with nary a hitch... and if ever there was a hitch it got fixed quick. Another 28 years anyone?
Living in Philadelphia and South Jersey my entire life, Amoroso's rolls were always in our kitchen at home. In November 2006 we moved to South Florida and opened our family owned and operated restaurant where we serve the best Philly Cheesesteak in Florida.One of the major reasons for this is the great bread provided by Amoroso's Baking Company and the help they give us.A lot of the Amoroso family have been to our restaurant and signed the Amoroso’s sign we have displayed which says we are proud to serve the best Italian bread in the world!Our thanks to the entire Amoroso family and staff for making our Philly Cheesesteak taste the way it should.
With locations across the Midwest, most of our customers have never heard of Amoroso's Rolls, so we get a lot of questions about them. We always respond with the truth.
We say that where we come from - where good sandwiches were born - Amoroso's is the only way to go. We explain that we get rolls shipped halfway across the country twice a week because no other product will do justice to our delicious food.
